The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 11:14 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Claude Duplain, Roger Gallaway, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Judi Longfield, Lynn Myers, Marcel Proulx, Diane St-Jacques and Chuck Strahl.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal; Megan Furi, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to its mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii), the Committee resumed its review of the Standing Orders, procedure and practice of the House with regard to the prior review of certain Order-in-Council appointments by this Committee.
 
The Committee commenced consideration of a draft letter to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister responsible for Democratic Reform.
 

It was agreed, — That the Chair send the letter, as amended, on behalf of the Committee.

 
Pursuant to its mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a)(iii), the Committee commenced consideration of the French-language version of the Standing Orders.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be the Committee's report and that the Chair do present it to the House.

 
Pursuant to its mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a)(vi), the Committee commenced consideration of matters relating to the election of Members to the House of Commons.
 

It was agreed, — That the Chief Electoral Officer and Canada Post be invited to appear before the Committee regarding mailing lists produced from voters' lists provided by Elections Canada.

 

At 11:32 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
