The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Hon. Elinor Caplan, Claude Duplain, Hon. Roger Gallaway, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Judi Longfield, Lynn Myers, Marcel Proulx, Diane St-Jacques and Chuck Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: John Reynolds for Loyola Hearn.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal; Megan Furi, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: House of Commons: John O'Reilly, Haliburton—Victoria—Brock; Derek Lee, Scarborough—Rouge River; William Corbett, Clerk; Rob Walsh, Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel; MGen G. Cloutier, Sergeant-at-Arms.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, March 25, 2004, the Committee resumed consideration of the question of privilege relating to the disclosure of confidential proceedings of an Ontario Liberal caucus meeting.
 

John O'Reilly and Derek Lee each made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:13 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Clerk of the House made a statement and, with the Law Clerk and the Sergeant-at-Arms, answered questions.

 

At 12:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:57 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 1:07 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
