The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources met in a televised session at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Guy St-Julien, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stan Dromisky, Hon. André Harvey, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Rick Laliberte, Yvan Loubier, Pat Martin, Guy St-Julien, Chuck Strahl, Hon. Andrew Telegdi and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Associate Members present: Pauline Picard.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development : Michel Roy, Assistant Deputy Minister; Maureen McPhee, Director General. Assembly of First Nations: Phil Fontaine, National Chief; Lance Haymond, Chief; Don Jones, Chief. Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development : Joan Atkinson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Socio-Economic Policy and Programs Sector; Gilles Rochon, Director General, Infrastructure and Housing. Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated: Paul Kaludjak, President; Kowesa Etitiq, Policy Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of housing.
 

Michel Roy made a statement and, with Maureen McPhee, answered questions.

 

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:48 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of Self-Government Negotitations.
 

Phil Fontaine and Lance Haymond made statements and answered questions.

 

Paul Kaludjak made a statement and, with Kowesa Etitiq, answered questions.

 

Joan Atkinson made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
