Meeting No. 5

Thursday, December 5, 2002

The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Reg Alcock, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Carolyn Bennett, Roy Cullen, Paul Forseth, Liza Frulla, Robert Lanctôt, Steve Mahoney, Gerry Ritz, Alex Shepherd, Paul Szabo and Tony Valeri.

In attendance: From the Library of parliament:  Jack Stilborn, Analyst; Philippe Le Goff, Analyst. From the Committees Directorate:  Lisa Chartier-Derouin, Co-clerk.

Witnesses: From the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat: Louise Bellefeuille-Prégent, Senior Director, Horizontal Results Management; Roberta Santi, Associate Deputy Comptroller General, Comptrollership Branch; Lee McCormack, Executive Director, Results Management and Reporting, Comptrollership Branch. From the Office of the Auditor General: Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General; John Mayne, Principal.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed the study on horizontal issues that cross departmental boundaries and management and results reporting. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Tuesday, December 3, 2002).

At 11:15 a.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera and discuss future business.

At 11:58 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:02 a.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in public.

The Committee resumed its study on horizontal issues that cross departmental boundaries and management and results reporting.

Roberta Santi and Maria Barrados each made an opening statement and, with Lee McCormack and John Mayne, answered questions.

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
