Monday, May 5, 2003

The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Vice-Chair, Tony Valeri, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Roy Cullen, Paul Forseth, Judy Sgro, Paul Szabo, Tony Tirabassi and Tony Valeri.

Acting Member present: Benoît Sauvageau for Robert Lanctôt.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jack Stilborn, Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: John Wiersema, Assistant Auditor General; Douglas Timmins, Assistant Auditor General; Richard Smith, Principal; Bruce Slone, Principal.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), consideration of the Main Estimates 2003-2004, Votes 1,2,5,10 and 20, and Report on Plans and Priorities under TREASURY BOARD.

John Wiersema made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
