MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 7

Thursday, November 21, 2002

The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present:  Peter Adams, Pierre Brien, Marlene Catterall, Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Dale Johnston, Joe Jordan, Geoff Regan, Jacques Saada, Werner Schmidt, Guy St-Julien and Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Member present:  Rob Anders for John Reynolds.

Other Member present:  Dick Proctor.

Associate Member present:  Stéphane Bergeron

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer: Jean-Pierre Kingsley, Chief Electoral Officer; Janice Vézina, Senior Director, Elections Financing and Corporate Services; Carol Lesage, Director, Parliamentary Representation.

Pursuant to its mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a), the Committee considered its future business.

After debate, it was agreed,  -  That the work plan presented by the Chair be approved.

Pursuant to its mandate under Standing Order 108(3)(a)(vi), the Committee considered matters related to the election of Members to the House of Commons.

Jean-Pierre Kingsley made a statement and, with Janice Vézina and Carol Lesage, answered questions.

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
