The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Richard Harris, Sophia Leung, Pierre Paquette, Pauline Picard, Bryon Wilfert.

Acting Members present: Charles Caccia for the Hon. Maria Minna; Bob Wood for Tony Valeri.

The Order of Reference dated Tuesday, April 8, 2003, being now read as follows:

ORDERED, -- That Bill C-28, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on February 18, 2003 be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Finance.

The Chair called Clause 1.

The Parliamentary Secretary made a statement and with Peter DeVries, Gérard Lalonde, Brian Willis, Marlene Legare, Geoff Truman, Annie Carrier, Isabelle Brault and Julie Mah answered questions.

At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
