The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Bernard Patry, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Stéphane Bergeron, Aileen Carroll, Bill Casey, Stockwell Day, John Duncan, The Hon. Art Eggleton, Mark Eyking, John Harvard, Marlene Jennings, Keith Martin, Pat O'Brien, Bernard Patry.
Acting Members present: Larry Bagnell for Irwin Cotler; Bob Speller for Mark Eyking; Paddy Torsney for Diane Marleau; Jason Kenny for Deepak Obhrai; Yves Rocheleau for Francine Lalonde; Alexa McDonough for Svend Robinson.
Other Member present: Christiane Gagnon.

Sarkis Assadourian moved, - That the Committee invite the House of Commons
to recognize the genocide of the Armenians, which began at the turn of the last
Ccentury, by the Ottoman Turks, during the
First World War.
After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of the situation of Iraq. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Monday, October 28, 2002, Meeting No. 2).
At 4:04 p.m., Janice Stein made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 4:50 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:56 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of North American Integration and Canada's Role in the Light of New Security Challenges (See Minutes of Proceedings of October 28, 2002, Meeting No. 2).
The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
The Committee discussed its future business.
It was agreed, --That the Committee host a working meal on Thursday, December 5 for Robert Templer, Director of the International Crisis Group Asia Program, Paris Office.
At 7:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
