Meeting No. 25

Thursday, June 5, 2003

The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in a televised session at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Hon. Charles L. Caccia, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Hon. Charles L. Caccia, Joe Comartin, Gary Lunn, Bob Mills, Julian Reed, Paul Szabo, Alan Tonks.

Other Members present: Karen Kraft Sloan and Paul Forseth.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas and Tim Williams, Analysts.

Witnesses: From the International Joint Commission: Right Hon. Herb Gray, Chairman, Canadian Section; Gail Krantzberg, Director, Great Lakes Regional Office. From the University of Guelph: Prof. Vernon Thomas, Department of Zoology; Charlotte Vásárhelyi.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), International Joint Commission's 11th Report on the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.

Herb Gray, Vernon Thomas and Charlotte Vásárhelyi made opening statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 1:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
