MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 67

Tuesday, May 28, 2002

The Standing Committee on Transport met in camera at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Ovid Jackson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Bev Desjarlais, Norman Doyle, Jim Gouk, André Harvey, Ovid Jackson, Mario Laframboise, James Moore, Alex Shepherd, Paul Szabo.

Acting Members present: Maria Minna for Gerry Byrne, Raymond Simard for Joe Comuzzi, Murray Calder for Marcel Proulx, Rex Barnes for Norman Doyle.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Research Officer.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Main Estimates 2002-2003.

 

On motion of Paul Szabo, it was agreed, -That Votes 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 under TREASURY BOARD; Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50, 55, 60, and 65 under PRIVY COUNCIL; Vote 1 under GOVERNOR GENERAL; Vote 1 under PARLIAMENT (SENATE); Vote 120 under CANADIAN HERITAGE; Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 under TRANSPORT in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003 be adopted.

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed, in camera, its consideration of draft report of Truckers Hours of Service, safety concerns and transborder/border crossing issues, and their impact on the Canadian trucking industry.

At 11:30 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
