The Standing Committee on Transport and Government Operations met at 10:58 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Ovid Jackson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, Jay Hill, Ovid Jackson, Mario Laframboise, Dominic LeBlanc, Marcel Proulx, Brent St. Denis, Paul Szabo, Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Members present: Mark Eyking for Alex Shepherd

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, researcher.

Appearing:: The Hon. David Collenette, Minister of Transport

Witnesses: From the Department of Transport: Louis Ranger, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy; William J.S. Elliott, Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security Group; Ronald Sully, Assistant Deputy Minister, Programs and Divestiture; Janet Milne, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services; Christine Nymark, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy.

The Order of Reference dated Tuesday February 27, 2001, was read as follows:

Ordered: - That the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2002, laid upon the Table on Tuesday February 27, 2001, be referred to the several Standing Committees of the House, as follows:

(16) to the Standing Committee on Transport and Government Operations.

--Transport, Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35

The Minister made a statement and, with the witnesses, answered questions.

At 12:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
