The Clerk of the Committee: I see that we have a quorum. We are going to elect our chair. I am ready to receive motions to that effect.

It is moved by Mr. Moore that Mr. Jackson be elected chair of the committee. Mr. Proulx supports the motion.

I declare Mr. Jackson duly elected chairman of the committee.

    Voices: Bravo!

    Motion carried

[English]

+-

The Chair (Mr. Ovid Jackson (Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound, Lib.)): Do you want to deal with them separately, the vice-chairs?

Okay, thank you, colleagues. We'll move right on to the vice-chairs, if I could have some nominations, one at a time.

Mr. James Moore (Port Moody—Coquitlam—Port Coquitlam, Canadian Alliance): I nominate Mr. Marcel Proulx.

The Chair: Mr. Proulx is nominated by Mr. Moore for vice-chair.

Mr. Mario Laframboise (Argenteuil—Papineau—Mirabel, BQ): Agreed.

The Chair: Mr. Proulx is a vice-chair.

+-

Mr. Paul Szabo (Mississauga South, Lib.): I would like to nominate Mr. Moore for opposition vice-chair.

    (Motion agreed to)

    The Chair: Thanks, colleagues.

Now, most of you have been around and you know how we deal with it, and I think you'll appreciate that we try to get everybody involved. So the normal motion.... The 48-hour notice is okay with you? And the time of meeting is okay, from eleven to one?

    Mr. James Moore: Yes.

-

The Chair: So if you want to move those...we can go down, I guess, one at a time.

Okay, we have the recorders from the House, the usual thing. Can somebody move that?

Can we have the same motions that we had before, colleagues? Can we do them all and get rid of them?

Mr. Paul Szabo: I'll move all of the standard motions, Mr. Chair.

    Some hon. members: Agreed.

The Chair: Agreed? I guess we're out of that procedural thing. Now we can get into the meat and potatoes.
