Meeting No. 3

Thursday, January 31, 2002

The Sub-Committee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair Colleen Beaumier, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Roy Bailey, Colleen Beaumier, Dan McTeague, Louis Plamondon, Carmen Provenzano, Peter Stoffer, Elsie Wayne and Bob Wood.

Other Member present: David Pratt.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Royal Canadian Legion: Allan Parks, Dominion Command 1st Vice President and Chairman Veterans, Service and Seniors Committee; Jim Rycroft, Director - Service Bureau (Dominion Command) and Secretary Veterans, Service and Seniors Committee; Beech Gordon, Service Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Sub-Committee commenced a study on Long-Term Care for Veterans.

Allan Parks and Jim Rycroft made opening statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

The Sub-Committee proceeded to the consideration of an operational budget.

It was agreed, That the proposed budget in the amount of $40,000 be adopted by the Sub-Committee for its study on Long‑Term Care for Veterans.

At 10:48 a.m., the Sub-Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
