Meeting No. 1

Wednesday, November 7, 2001

The Sub-Committee on the Study of Sport in Canada of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in a televised session at 3:27 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: John Harvard, Loyola Hearn, Robert Lanctôt, Serge Marcil, Dennis Mills, Dick Proctor, Hélène Scherrer.

Acting Members present: Yvon Godin for Dick Proctor, Stan Keyes for John Harvard, Bob Wood for Hélène Scherrer.

Other Members present: Gérard Binet, Inky Mark.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Antony Jackson.

Appearing: From the House of Commons: The Hon. Denis Coderre, Secretary of State (Amateur Sport).

Witness: From the Canadian Heritage: Norman Moyer, Assistant Deputy Minister, Canadian Identity.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), a briefing on the Government Response to the Sixth Report of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, November1998.

Denis Coderre made a presentation and answered questions.

It was agreed, - That the Sub-Committee hear representatives of the Coaching Association of Canada and of Olympic Aid.

At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
