The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a Videoteleconference session at 3:37 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Bryden, Odina Desrochers, John Finlay, Mac Harb, Philip Mayfield, Shawn Murphy, Alex Shepherd and John Williams.
In attendance: From Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal and Jean Dupuis, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan: Dennis Kendall, Registrar, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. From the Saskatchewan Pharmaceutical Association: Ray Joubert, Registrar, Regina, Saskatchewan. From the Department of Health: Peter Cooney, Acting Director General, Non-Insured Health Benefits; Harry Hodes, Assistant Regional Director, Alberta / Northwest Territories, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Jerome Berthelette, Special Advisor on Aboriginal Health, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Ronnie Campbell, Principal, Audit Operations Branch; Glenn Wheeler, Director, Audit Operations.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 15 (Health Canada - First Nations Health: Follow-up) of the October 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Thursday, April 5, 2001, Meeting No. 10)
Ronnie Campbell from the Office of the Auditor General of Canada made a statement.
Peter Cooney from the Department of Health made a statement.
Dennis Kendall from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan made a statement.
Ray Joubert from the Saskatchewan Pharmaceutical Association made a statement.
