The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Vice-Chair, David Price, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Claude Bachand, Leon Benoit, Stan Dromisky, John O'Reilly, David Price, Carmen Provenzano, Peter Stoffer and Bob Wood.
Acting Members present: Ivan Grose for David Pratt and Sarmite Bulte for Bryon Wilfert.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers. Barry Hamilton, Consultant.
Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: André Marin, Ombudsman, Office of the Ombudsman. As Individual: Lt-Gen (retired) Roméo Dallaire. From the Department of National Defence: Lt-Gen Christian Couture, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources - Military; Brigadier General Lise Mathieu, Director General, Health Services.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the state of readiness of the Canadian Forces.
Mr. Marin and Lt-Gen (retired) Dallaire made opening statements and answered questions.
At 4:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 5:02 the sitting resumed.
Lt-Gen Couture made an opening statement and with the other witness answered questions.
At 5:41 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
