The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:48 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, David Pratt, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Claude Bachand, Colleen Beaumier, Leon Benoit, Stan Dromisky, Cheryl Gallant, John O'Reilly, David Pratt, Peter Stoffer.
Acting Members present: Rodger Cuzner for Janko Perić; Jean-Guy Carignan for David Price; Larry Bagnell for Carmen Provenzano; Diane St-Jacques for Bryon Wilfert; Pat O’Brien for Bob Wood.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Michel Rossignol, Research Assistant.
Witness: From the University of New Brunswick: Dr. David A. Charters, Department of Conflict Studies.
The Committee considered a motion tabled by Leon Benoit on Wednesday, October 31, 2001.
Leon Benoit moved, - That the Committee report to the House that the government response to the Committee’s unanimous report on Defence Procurement was inadequate and that the Committee instruct the government to prepare a second, complete response.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the state of readiness of the Canadian Forces.
The witness made a statement and answered questions.
Cheryl Gallant sought the Committee’s unanimous consent to have a document entitled Fostering Human Security: A Joint Canado-U.S. Brigade (David Pratt, October 2000) tabled in the House.
Unanimous consent was denied.
At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
