Meeting No. 28

Thursday, November 22, 2001

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in a televised session at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jim Abbott, Paul Bonwick, Claude Duplain, Christiane Gagnon, John Harvard, Betty Hinton, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln, Dennis Mills and Tony Tirabassi.

In attendance:  From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament:  Joe Jackson and Terry Thomas, Research Officers, David Black, Consultant.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission: David Colville, Chairman; Andrée P. Wylie, Vice-Chair, Broadcasting; Jean-Pierre Blais, Executive Director, Broadcasting.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the State of the Canadian Broadcasting System.  (See Minutes of Proceeding, dated Thursday, November 8, 2001, Meeting No. 26).

David Colville and Andrée P. Wylie made statements and answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
