Meeting No. 4

Thursday, March 22, 2001

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:11 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Dominic LeBlanc, James Lunney, Bill Matthews, Jean-Yves Roy, Peter Stoffer, Tom Wappel.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From Fisheries and Oceans Canada: Patrick Chamut, Assistant Deputy Minister, Fisheries Management; Dennis Brock, Director General, Conservation and Protection; Edmond Martin, Director, Conservation and Protection, Gulf Region.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the Fisheries Enforcement Policy.

The Chair made opening remarks.

Patrick Chamut made a presentation and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

  At 11:03 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
