Thursday, February 7, 2002
The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Andy Burton, Rodger Cuzner, Wayne Easter, Georges Farrah, Loyola Hearn, Dominic LeBlanc, James Lunney, Lawrence O'Brien, Paul Steckle, Peter Stoffer, Suzanne Tremblay.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.
Appearing: From the House of Commons: The Honourable Robert Thibault, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee held an information session on departmental matters.
The Minister made a statement and answered questions.
On motion of Dominic LeBlanc, it was agreed, - That the Committee travelling to Boston, Mass., Québec and Atlantic Canada in March 2002 be composed of five members of the Liberal Party, two Canadian Alliance members, and one member each from the Bloc Québecois, the NDP and the PC/DR Coalition.
At 4:41 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
