Tuesday, March 13, 2001

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:13 a.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, John Cummins, Wayne Easter, Georges Farrah, Gerald Keddy, James Lunney, Bill Matthews, Lawrence O'Brien, Paul Steckle, Peter Stoffer, Suzanne Tremblay.

Other Member present: Joe McGuire

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, research officer.

Witnesses: From the Maritimes Fishermen's Union: Ron Cormier, President; Bruno Robichaud. As Individual: Johnny Arsenault, Fisherman; Francis Morrissey, Fisherman.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), study on the Fisheries Enforcement Policy.

The Chair made opening remarks.

Ron Cormier and Francis Morrissey made opening statements and with the other witnesses answered questions.

At 10:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
