The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Charles L. Caccia, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Bernard Bigras, Charles L. Caccia, Joe Comartin, John Herron, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn, Bob Mills, Karen Redman, Julian Reed.
Acting Member present: Alex Shepherd for Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas and Tim Williams, analysts.
Appearing: From the House of Commons: The Hon. David A. Anderson, Minister of the Environment.
Witness: From the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency: Robert G. Connelly, Vice-President, Policy Development.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Monday, June 4, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, December 4, 2001, Meeting No. 56).
The Minister made an opening statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.
At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
