The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Charles L. Caccia, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Charles L. Caccia, Rick Laliberte, Gary Lunn, Bob Mills, Julian Reed, Alan Tonks.
Acting Member present: Paddy Torsney for Hélène Scherrer.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kristen Douglas and Tim Williams, Analysts.
Witnesses: From the Conservation Council of New Brunswick: David Coon, Policy Director. From the Inter-Church Uranium Committee: Maisie Shiell; Randy Fleming. From the Metis National Council: Allan Morin, Minister responsible for Environmental Initiatives; Garry Lipinski, Co-Chair (Ontario).
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Monday, June 4, 2001, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, December 4, 2001, Meeting No. 56).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 11:17 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
