Tuesday, January 29, 2002
The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a televised session at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Yvon Charbonneau, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Joe Fontana, Paul Forseth, Steve Mahoney, Inky Mark, Anita Neville, Jerry Pickard, Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Lynne Yelich.
Other Member present: Jim Karygiannis.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin and Margaret Young, Researchers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) – the Committee resumed its review of Regulations under the new Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Witnesses: From the Immigration and Refugee Board: Peter Showler, Chairperson; Krista Daley, Senior General Counsel, Director-Legal Services; Manon Brassard, Director General, Legislative Implementation Project Office.
Peter Showler made an opening statement and with the witnesses answered questions.
At 4:58 p.m. the sitting was suspended.
At 5:00 p.m. the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.
The Committee considered its future business.
At 5:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
