Meeting No. 32

Thursday, November 1st, 2001

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: David Anderson, Rick Borotsik, Garry Breitkreuz, Murray Calder, Mark Eyking, Marcel Gagnon, Howard Hilstrom, Charles Hubbard, Larry McCormick, Dick Proctor, Bob Speller, Paul Steckle, Suzanne Tremblay, Rose-Marie Ur.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, researcher; Jean-Denis Fréchette, researcher.

Witnesses: From the Canadian Wheat Board: Ken Ritter, Chair, Board of Directors; Greg S. Arason, President and Chief Executive Officer; Patty Rosher, Program Manager, Market Development, Sales and Market Development. From the Ducks Unlimited Canada: Barry Turner, Director of Government Relations; Brian T. Gray, Director of Conservation Programs; Ian Campbell, Senior Agricultural Policy Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Briefing Session on the Canadian Wheat Board's Position Statement Regarding the Production and the Marketing of Genetically Modified Wheat and Barley.

Ken Ritter and Greg S. Arason each made an opening statement, and with the witness, answered questions.

At 10:36 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:42 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Briefing Session with Ducks Unlimited Canada.

Brian Gray made an opening statement, and with the witnesses, answered questions.

At 11:33 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
