MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
Meeting No. 1
Monday, February 19, 2001
The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block for the purpose of electing a Chair pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and (2).
Members of the Committee present: Murray Calder, Claude Duplain, Howard Hilstrom, Charles Hubbard, Rick Laliberte, Larry McCormick, Jerry Pickard, Bob Speller, Paul Steckle, and Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Members present: Brian Fitzpatrick for David L. Anderson, Mario Laframboise for Marcel Gagnon, Peter Stoffer for Dick Proctor, and Pierre Brien for Suzanne Tremblay.
In attendance: From the Committees and Parliamentary Associations Directorate: Bernard Fournier, Procedural Clerk.
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(1) and (2), election of a Chair and Vice-Chairs.
The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Chair of the Committee.
Peter Stoffer, seconded by Brian Fitzpatrick, moved – That Howard Hilstrom do take the Chair of this Committee.
The question was put on the motion, and it was, by a show of hands, negatived: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 9.
On motion of Rick Laliberté, it was agreed – That Charles Hubbard do take the Chair of this Committee.
Accordingly, Charles Hubbard was declared duly elected Chair of the Committee and took the Chair.
On motion of Larry McCormick, it was agreed, - That Murray Calder be elected as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
On motion of Garry Breitkreuz, it was agreed, - That Howard Hilstrom be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.
On motion of Claude Duplain it was agreed, - That the Committee do now adjourn.
At 3:40 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
