Thursday, May 9, 2002

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Natural Resources met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Raymond Bonin, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Gérard Binet, Raymond Bonin, David Chatters, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Richard Marceau, Inky Mark, Pat Martin, Guy St-Julien, Maurice Vellacott.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament:  Mary Hurley, research officer.

Appearing: From the House of Commons: Robert D. Nault, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.

Witness: From the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development: Caroline Davis, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated February 27, 2001, Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003, Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, L20, L25, 30, 35 40 and 45 under INDIAN AFFAIRS AND NORTHERN DEVELOPMENT.

The Chairman called Vote 1 under INDIAN AFFAIRS AND NORTHERN DEVELOPMENT.

The Minister, Robert Nault made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 12:56 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
