MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 28

Tuesday, June 6, 2000

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:51 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hec Clouthier, Mac Harb, Marlene Jennings, Steve Mahoney, Philip Mayfield, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Judy Sgro and John Williams.

Acting Member present: Serge Cardin for Benoît Sauvageau.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Brian O'Neal, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of a Draft Report respecting Chapter 17 (Canada Infrastructure Works Program: Phase II and Follow-Up of Phase I Audit) of the September 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, - That the Draft Report on Chapter 17 be concurred in, on division;

That the Draft Report on Chapter 30 (Sole-Source Contracting for Professional Services: Using Advance Contract Award Notices) of the November 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada be concurred in;

That the Draft Report on Chapter 23 (Involving Others in Governing: Accountability at Risk) and Chapter 24 (The Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development Fund: An Example of Involving Others in Governing) of the November 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada be concurred in; and

That the Draft Report on Chapter 4 (Indian and Northern Affairs Canada - Elementary and Secondary Education) of the April 2000 Report of the Auditor General of Canada be concurred in.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Reports as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

By unanimous consent, it was ordered, - That the Reports be presented by the Chair of the Committee to the House of Commons.

At 3:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
