The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Finlay, Marlene Jennings, Steve Mahoney, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau, Alex Shepherd, and John Williams.
Acting Member present: Gordon Earle for Michelle Dockrill.
Associate Member present: Derrek Konrad.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Peter Kasurak, Principal, Audit Operations Branch; Hugh McRoberts, Principal, Audit Operations Branch. From the Department of National Defence: Rick Burton, Director General, Materiel Comptrollership and Business Management. From the Treasury Board of Canada - Secretariat: Richard J. Neville, Deputy Comptroller General; Roberta Santi, Assistant Secretary, Risk, Procurement and Asset Management; Jane Cochran, Senior Director, Procurement Policy.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of Chapter 30 (Sole-Source Contracting for Professional Services: Using Advance Contract Award Notices) and Chapter 27 (National Defence - Alternative Service Delivery - NATO Flight Training in Canada) of the November 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
Denis Desautels, Rick Burton and Richard Neville made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
