The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:49 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mac Harb, Marlene Jennings, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau and John Williams.
Acting Member present: Ken Epp for Paul Forseth.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General. From the Treasury Board of Canada - Secretariat: Richard B. Fadden, Assistant Secretary, Government Operations Sector; Ralph Heintzman, Assistant Secretary, Service and Innovation.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of Chapter 17 (Canada Infrastructure Works Program: Phase II and Follow-Up of Phase I Audit), Chapter 23 (Involving Others in Governing: Accountability at Risk) and Chapter 24 (The Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development Fund: An Example of Involving Others in Governing) of the November 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
L. Denis Desautels, Richard Fadden and Ralph Heintzman made opening statements and answered questions.
At 4:41 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 5:29 p.m., the sitting resumed.
At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
