Meeting No. 11

The Standing Committee of Public Accounts met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Hec Clouthier, John Finlay, Mac Harb, Marlene Jennings, Gilles-A. Perron, Beth Phinney, John Richardson, Benoît Sauvageau, Alex Shepherd, John Williams.

Acting Members present: Derrek Konrad for Paul Forseth.

Other Member present: Judy Sgro.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis; Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Ron Thompson, Assistant Auditor General; Eric Anttila, Principal, Audit Operations. From the Treasury Board Secretariat: Richard Neville, Deputy Comptroller General, Financial Manangement Policy Sector & Expenditure Analysis and Operations Sector; Jim Libbey, Senior Director, Financial Information Strategy Project; John Morgan, Senior Director, Financial Management and Accounting Policy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)e), consideration of Chapter 21 (Financial Information Strategy - Departmental Readiness) of the September and November 1999 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.

L. Denis Desautels and Richard Neville each made an opening statement and with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
