Tuesday, November 30, 1999
The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Pat O'Brien, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Gordon Earle, Jim Hart, Judi Longfield, Paul Mercier, Pat O'Brien, Janko Peric, David Pratt and George Proud.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner; Corinne McDonald, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From General Motors of Canada Ltd.: William Pettipas, Executive Director of Diesel Division and Vice-President of General Motors; Kenneth A. Yamashita, Manager, Government Relations & Industrial Benefits, Defence Operations.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on Contracting and Procurement Policy.
William Pettipas made an opening statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.
At 5:15 o'clock p.m., the Committee proceeded to the consideration of future business.
On motion of George Proud, seconded by Jim Hart, it was agreed, - That the Committee adopt the budget of $115,750.96 for its travel to the United States.
At 5:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
