The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met jointly with the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade at 11:35 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, David Pratt and Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Art Hanger, Janko Peric, David Pratt, George Proud and Elsie Wayne.
Members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade present: Maud Debien, Bill Graham, Ted McWhinney, Svend Robinson and Bob Speller.
Acting Membes present: Pauline Picard for Francine Lalonde.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Corinne McDonald, James Lee and Gerry Schmitz, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the North Atlantic Treaty Organization: The Rt Hon. Lord Robertson, Secretary General; Desmond Bowen, Director, Private Office; Kurt Volker, Deputy Director, Private Office and David Wright, Ambassador of Canada to NATO.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee convened a meeting with the Rt. Hon. Lord Robinson, Secretary General to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The Rt. Hon. Lord Robertson made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 11:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
