Tuesday, February 22, 2000
The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Ivan Grose, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Chuck Cadman, Aileen Carroll, Ivan Grose, John Maloney, John McKay, Jacques Saada and Pierrette Venne.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.
Witnesses: As Individual: Michel Jasmin, Judge, Youth Court, Quebec; Heino Lilles, Judge, Yukon Territorial Court; Ken Kirkland, Judge, Ontario Court of Justice; Herbert Allard, Retired Family Court Judge.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Tuesday, November 23, 1999, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-3, An Act in respect of criminal justice for young persons and to amend and repeal other Acts (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 30, 1999 , Meeting No. 5).
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
