The Standing Committee on Industry met at 4:31 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Susan Whelan, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Cannis, Marlene Jennings, Walt Lastewka, Gurbax Malhi, Dan McTeague, Ian Murray, Charlie Penson, Jerry Pickard, Nelson Riis and Susan Whelan.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer.
Appearing: The Hon. Ronald Duhamel, Secretary of State (Western Economic Diversification).
Witnesses: From Western Economic Diversification Canada: Oryssia J. Lennie, Deputy Minister; Gary Webster, Assistant Deputy Minister, Alberta; Bernard Ouellet, Director General, Finance.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated February 29, 2000, Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2001, Votes under INDUSTRY and the Performance Report - Industry Canada for the period ending March 31, 1999.
The Hon. Ronald Duhamel made a statement and with the witnesses answered questions.
At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
