Tuesday, March 28, 2000

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in a televised session at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Dennis Mills, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mauril Bélanger, Sarmite Bulte, Pierre de Savoye, Wendy Lill, Rick Limoges, Clifford Lincoln, Dennis Mills, Alex Shepherd.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, Research Officer and David Black, Consultant.

Witnesses: From the Department of Canadian Heritage: Carla Curran, Chief, Book Publishing Policy; Jeff Richstone, Senior Counsel, Legal Services. As Individual: Wanda Noel, Consultant, Copyright Law.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Consideration of the Canadian Book Publishing Industry.

Carla Curran made an opening statement and, with Jeff Richstone answered questions.

Wanda Noël made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 12:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
