MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 54

Thursday, June 8, 2000

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:20 a.m. this day, in Room 307, West Block, the Chair, Wayne Easter, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, John Duncan, Wayne Easter, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Bill Matthews, Carmen Provenzano, Paul Steckle.

Acting Members present: Marlene Jennings for Marcel Proulx; Bob Speller for Lou Sekora.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

The Committee proceeded to discuss future business.

On motion of Paul Steckle, it was agreed, - That the travel budget in the amount of $55,775.50 be approved.

On motion of Paul Steckle, it was agreed, - That the Chair seek funds of $55,775.50 for the travel of the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans to Ontario during the month of October 2000 to continue their comprehensive study on Aquaculture.

On motion of Bill Matthews, it was agreed, - That the travel budget in the amount of $114,384.96 be approved.

On motion of Bill Matthews, it was agreed, - That the Chair seek funds of $114,384.96 for the travel of the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans to Chile during the month of November 2000 to continue their comprehensive study on Aquaculture.

On motion of John Duncan, it was agreed, - That the Committee travel to Norway and Scotland during the month of April 2001 to continue their comprehensive study on Aquaculture.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to table the Committee's decision to travel to the House.

At 9:25 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
