The Standing Committee on Finance met at 5:10 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Ken Epp and Pauline Picard.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Blayne Haggart, Researcher; Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.
Witnesses: From the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada: Kevin Umlah, President; Francesca Iacurto, Director, Public Affairs. From the Investment Funds Institute of Canada: John Mountain, Vice-President, Regulation. From the Public Interest Advocacy Centre: Angie Barrados, Policy Analyst; Camille Aislie, Researcher.
The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-38, An Act to establish the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and to amend certain Acts in relation to financial institutions (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, September 28, 2000, Meeting No. 81).

Francesca Iacurto, Kevin Umlah, John Mountain and Angie Barrados made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
