The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-38, An Act to establish the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and to amend certain Acts in relation to financial institutions (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, September 28, 2000, Meeting No. 81).

Gary Seveny, Joseph Oliver, Tanis McLaren, Judith Wolfson and Peter Downing made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
