The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Roger Gallaway, Yvan Loubier, Pauline Picard and Gary Pillitteri.

The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-38, An Act to establish the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and to amend certain Acts in relation to financial institutions (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, September 28, 2000, Meeting No. 81).
On Clause 1.
Sharlyn Ayotte, Len Fowler, Laurie Rektor, Paul Lussier, Louise Rozon, Louise Aubert, William Loewen, Brian Denysvik and Wayne King made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:05 p.m., the Hon. Doug Peters made a statement.
Members resumed questioning the witnesses.
At 5:46 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
