Tuesday, November 30, 1999

The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 6:07 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Ken Epp, Roger Gallaway and Karen Redman.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Soucy, Researcher.

Witness(es): From the Coalition of National Voluntary Organizations: Al Hatton, Executive Director. From the North-South Institute: Roy Culpeper, President; John Serieux, Researcher. From the Action Canada for Population and Development: Katherine McDonald, Executive Director; Ann Burnett, Parliamentary Affairs Coordinator. From the Canadian Council for International Co-operation: Betty Plewes, President and Chief Executive Officer. From the Foundation for Educational Exchange Between Canada and the United States of America: Dr. Victor Konrad, Executive Director; Dr. David Walker, President, West-Can Consultants.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).

Al Hatton, Roy Culpeper, Ann Burnett, Katherine McDonald, Betty Plewes, David Walker and Victor Conrad made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.

At 7:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
