The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:08 a.m., this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, John Harvard, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Hélène Alarie, Murray Calder, Odina Desrochers, John Harvard, Gar Knutson, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle, Rose-Marie Ur.
Acting Member present: Roy Bailey for Garry Breitkreuz.
Other Member present: Jake Hoeppner.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher; Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.
Witnesses: From the Centre for Rural Studies and Enrichment, St. Peter's College, Saskatchewan: Diane Martz. From the Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Robert Friesen, President; Benoît Basillais, Policy Analyst.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee held Briefing Sessions: A) on the Report: Family Farm in Question: Compare the Share Revisited; B) on the Development of a Long Term Canadian Agricultural Policy.
Diane Martz made a statement and answered questions.
Robert Friesen made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.
At 11:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
