Tuesday, April 27, 1999
The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:41 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Vice-Chair, Lynn Myers, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: John Finlay, Mac Harb, Steve Mahoney, Philip Mayfield, Lynn Myers, Gilles-A. Perron, Beth Phinney, Charlie Power.
Acting Members present: Rick Casson for Paul Forseth.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 24 (Revenue Canada - International Tax Directorate: Human Resource Management) of the December 1998 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Tuesday, March 23, 1999, Meeting No. 58).
The Committee proceeded to examine a draft Report.
At 3:55 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), consideration of Chapter 25 (Transport Canada - Investments in Highways) of the December 1998 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Tuesday, March 16, 1999, Meeting No. 57).
The Committee proceeded to examine a draft Report.
At 4:10 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), consideration of Chapter 26 (Contracting for Professional Services: Selected Sole-Source Contracts) of the December 1998 Report of the Auditor General of Canada (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Tuesday, March 9, 1999, Meeting No. 55).
The Committee proceeded to examine a draft Report.
On motion of Philip Mayfield, Votes 25 and 30 under FINANCE (Office of the Auditor General of Canada) were carried.
Ordered, - That the Chair report Votes 25 and 30 under FINANCE to the House of Commons.
It was agreed, - That the draft Report on Chapter 24, as amended, be adopted as the Twenty-Six Report of the Committee.
It was agreed, - That the draft Report on Chapter 25, as amended, be adopted as the Twenty-Seventh Report of the Committee.
It was agreed, - That the draft Report on Chapter 26, as amended, be adopted as the Twenty-Eight Report of the Committee.
It was agreed, - That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Reports as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Reports.
Ordered, - That the Reports, as amended, be presented by the Chair of the Committee to the House of Commons.
At 4:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
