The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Member(s) of the Committee present: Serge Cardin, John Finlay, Paul Forseth, Mac Harb, Steve Mahoney, Lynn Myers, Gilles-A. Perron, John Williams.
Other Member present: John McKaye.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Michael McLaughlin, Deputy Auditor General, Corporate Services; Sheila Fraser, Deputy Auditor General.
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of the Main Estimates 1999-2000: Votes 25 and 30 under FINANCE (Office of the Auditor General) and of the Report on the receipts and disbursements of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1998.
L. Denis Desautels made an opening statement and with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
