The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, John Williams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Serge Cardin, Ivan Grose, Mac Harb, Steve Mahoney, Philip Mayfield, Lynn Myers, Beth Phinney and John Williams.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis and Brian O'Neal, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada: L. Denis Desautels, Auditor General of Canada; Shahid Minto, Assistant Auditor General; Hugh McRoberts, Principal, Audit Operations Branch; From the Treasury Board of Canada - Secretariat: J. Colin Potts, Deputy Comptroller General, Comptrollership Branch; Alan Winberg, Assistant Secretary, Risk, Procurement and Asset Management Sector; R. J. Kelly, Director, Contract Policy Division.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(e), the Committee proceeded to consider Chapter 26 (Contracting for Professional Services: Selected Sole-Source Contracts) of the December 1998 Report of the Auditor General of Canada.
L. Denis Desautels and J. Colin Potts each made an opening statement and, with Shahid Minto, Hugh McRoberts and Alan Winberg, answered questions.
At 5:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
