The Standing Committee on Finance met at 5:25 p.m. this day, in Hazel McCallion Halls C & D at the Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Toronto (Mississaugua), Ontario, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roger Gallaway, Karen Redman, Paul Szabo and Tony Valeri.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Richard Domingue and Marion Wrobel, Researcher.

From the Co-operators Group: Frank Lowery, Vice-President; Maurice Campeau, Second Vice-President and, Director of the Region of Alberta; Donna Stewardson; Laura Gregson. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of the Report of the Task Force on the future of the Canadian Financial Services Sector. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Monday, September 21, 1998, Meeting No.106).
The witnesses from Round Table I made statements and answered questions.
At 7:30 p.m., Professor Michael MacKenzie, York University and Former Head of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Canada, made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 8:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
