On Monday, February 9, 2026, the Standing Committee on Science and Research adopted the following motion:
It was agreed, — Given the government’s new agreement with the People’s Republic of China, which permits up to 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles to enter the Canadian market, the Standing Committee on Science and Research undertake a study of no fewer than four meetings to examine the scientific, research, and industry implications of this agreement on Canada’s electric vehicle sector; and that the committee report its findings and recommendations to the House.
