Challenges Faced by Senior Women with a Focus on the Factors Contributing to Their Poverty and Vulnerability

Last meeting: Thursday, February 28, 2019
The House of Commons Standing Committee on the Status of Women (the Committee) invites the public to submit written briefs for the committee’s study on challenges faced by senior women.

During the study, the committee will examine challenges faced by senior women, including, but not limited to:

  • access to transportation;
  • access to health services and medication;
  • the cost of home and health services;
  • access to affordable housing;
  • access to justice; and
  • widowhood.

The committee requests that written briefs focus on these topics and include specific recommendations to the Government of Canada on how to address the challenges faced by senior women in Canada.

The deadline for the committee to receive written briefs from the public, in either official language, is Friday, March 29, 2019. Briefs should not exceed two pages in length (approximately 1,000 words). Please see the Guide for Submitting Briefs to House of Commons Committees for further information.
