Comparative Study of Services to Veterans in Other Jurisdictions

Report and Government Response

Report 8: Comparative Study of Services to Veterans in Other Jurisdictions
  • Adopted by the Committee: December 7, 2017
  • Presented to the House: December 13, 2017
  • Government Response Requested
According to the latest studies, about one-third of veterans have experienced difficulties in transitioning to civilian life. Of these veterans who experienced difficulties, about two-thirds were released for medical reasons, while one-third were released for other reasons (end of contract, retirement, etc.). Pursuant to a motion passed on November 9, 2017, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs is studying the stages that mark this transition period, in order to identify the elements that, along this continuum, can be an obstacle to the smooth transition of veterans to civilian life.
