A meeting of the Working Group on the LTVP and the Centre Block Rehabilitation was held in camera on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at 4:12 p.m., in Room 035-B, West Block.

Present: Kelly Block, Mark Gerretsen, Carol Hughes, Hon. Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Louis Plamondon, Martin Shields and Ryan Turnbull

Also Present: Michel Patrice, Deputy Clerk, Administration; Stéphan Aubé, Chief Information Officer; Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property; Rob Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch, Public Services and Procurement Canada; Jennifer Garrett, Director General, Centre Block Program, Public Services and Procurement Canada

PARLIAMENT WELCOME CENTRE ENTRANCE – INDEPENDENT DESIGN REVIEW PANEL ENGAGEMENT

Michel Patrice, Deputy Clerk, Administration, and Rob Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch, Public Services and Procurement Canada, presented the plan for engagement with the Independent Design Review Panel regarding the entrance to the Parliament Welcome Centre and answered questions.

CENTRE BLOCK LOBBIES

Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property, presented the design plans for the Centre Block lobbies and answered questions.

It was agreed, – That, in relation to the lobbies, the working group recommend a design that includes additional support space located on the ground floor and the adjacent courtyard, with dedicated vertical circulation.

CENTRE BLOCK GALLERIES

Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property, presented the design plans for the Centre Block galleries and answered questions.

It was agreed, – That, in relation to the galleries, the working group recommend a design that complies with National Building Code requirements for accessibility, recognizing that there will be a significant reduction of available seating; and, that the architects be instructed to consider solutions to accommodate more visitors.
